About the role
A4S was established by HM King Charles III in 2004, when he was The Prince of Wales, "to help ensure that we are not battling to meet 21st century challenges with, at best, 20th century decision-making and reporting systems". Today we work with leading CFOs, finance managers, business schools, the Government and more to drive a fundamental shift towards resilient business models and a sustainable economy.
We’re looking for a Finance Officer to support the Senior Finance Manager with financial planning, management and reporting, supporting efficient, effective and timely delivery of A4S activities and delivery of the organization's strategy. This is initially for a fixed term as we prepare budgets and get ready for year end and the audit, with the possibility that it may be extended or become a permanent role.
A4S is a growing charitable organization working with a presence in a number of geographies. As Finance Officer, you will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager as part of the internal Governance and Operations team, to provide accurate financial information to our Executive team, the rest of our global team and externally. You will play a key role in ensuring that there is a foundation of accurate financial reporting and management within the charity.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Work with the Senior Finance Manager and relevant A4S team leads to translate A4S's aims, objectives and strategy into annual budgets.
- Assist to embed and maintain strong financial processes and controls, including compliance with financial and payroll operating manuals as well as regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts.
- Involvement in the annual reporting process, including working with auditors to respond to queries.
- Work with the finance team to make sure that invoices received are correctly categorised and processed.

About you
You will have relevant accounting qualifications, such as ACA, ACCA, AAT, CIMA or equivalent, and post- qualification experience working in a finance team with involvement in the financial planning, management and reporting activities of an organization.
You will be a self-starter and have excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines, sometimes under time pressure, while remaining calm. You will have strong oral and written communication skills and a proven ability to interact and build relationships at all levels.
Experience in working with Xero or similar accounting packages, preparing VAT returns and understanding US 501 (c) (3) entities is an advantage. Experience working in the non-profit sector or in a global organization is also an advantage.
We value a diverse and inclusive team, and we know that studies have shown that some potential applicants are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single requirement. If you are excited about this role, but your past experience isn’t an exact match, we encourage you to apply and let us know what you can bring to it and A4S. You may be the right person for this job, or for future opportunities.
Our Values
A4S offers a competitive range of benefits, a good work-life balance, employee growth and development, and a vibrant organizational culture.
You’ll join a small team of about 30, who are based primarily in and around London. You’ll interact and work with colleagues at all levels, and stay in the loop on the full extent of our system-changing programmes of work. We strive for a collaborative, supportive and non-hierarchical structure.
Our dedicated office is in Mindspace Shoreditch - a vibrant, modern and dog-friendly co-working space which hosts weekly events including brunches, after-work socials and the occasional arts and crafts evening! We also organize our own team lunches, park days and away days - with team volunteering days also on the horizon.
