ICAEW Insolvency Reviewer

Home based with National Travel

£82,000 + £6,000 car allowance

Now is a great time to be considering a move to ICAEW, following the government's recent announcement that ICAEW and the other three RPBs will continue to have oversight of the profession; join our insolvency monitoring team to help us deliver transformational change to the regulatory framework.

Our insolvency reviewer role is a JIEB qualified position within ICAEW's Quality Assurance Department (QAD), and the successful candidate will have practical experience of working on a range of insolvency cases. You will work as part of a team of individuals dedicated to upholding quality and working to high standards.

The core part of the role involves visiting ICAEW licensed insolvency practitioners (IPs). Reviewers spend most of their time with our IPs, carrying out insolvency reviews.

A typical insolvency review includes understanding the IP's systems and processes for delivering their insolvency work, as well as the review of individual case files and assessing the quality of their work. Findings are summarised onsite and discussed with the IP at the end of the visit. We also conduct monitoring reviews in other areas, including Practice Assurance and DPB (Investment Business). Our reviewers see the visit through from start to finish and are empowered to conclude visits with a range of possible outcomes.

Our reviewers are based at home. We build time at home into a reviewer's schedule for you to plan upcoming reviews and to conclude recent ones. There is no expectation or requirement to go into an office when not performing on-site reviews. Our reviewers have control over the completion of their reviews without the hassle of relying on anyone else and no-surprises from unexpected client deadlines. So, if you like the idea of task-driven project work, and are motivated by getting the job done, this could be the role for you.

With our culture driven by consultation and collaboration, there is always help on hand, and a key part of the role of our management team is to be available for reviewers during their reviews to assist with any technical or other issues. Our induction training programme is second to none, designed to convert current insolvency staff into reviewers, teach any unfamiliar areas (eg, Practice Assurance) and to give new reviewers the confidence to carry out reviews on their own through shadowing other reviewers and continued support from the rest of the team.

Our reviewers really value the variety offered by the role. From working with the most senior partners in the largest firms through to sole practitioners, no day is the same. On top of this, our team is involved in delivering work under third party contracts, both in the UK and overseas, as well as other ad-hoc project work.
