Job Details

A highly reputable legal firm is seeking a Tax Advisor to join their central finance team to be responsible for leading firm and partner tax matters, providing tax, VAT, PAYE and related advice along with the management of all partner related accounting matters. The role is offered on a fixed term contract basis of up to 12 months, providing maternity cover and is offered on a hybrid basis, with some time spent working in their modern offices in Southampton, and other time at home.

In this role you will have significant partner contact, delivering tax and accounting services across the business up to the most senior members of the team. As well as ensuring that all tax and partner accounting operations run smoothly, you will be responsible for driving tax efficiencies across the firm, using your depth of experience to identify opportunities for ongoing improvement. You will also provide advice for other areas of the business including HR for employment benefits and contract related tax issues, and Marketing to help maximise tax efficiency, add backs and non-deductible expenditure.

You will be responsible for all partnership tax compliance, preparing individual tax returns, preparing any tax treaty forms for overseas clients, e.g., W8 forms for the USA, PSWT reclaim forms for Ireland etc, helping the payroll function on occasion and when required with calculation of benefits in kind, P11d computations, the PAYE settlement agreement, and reconciliation of RTI requirements, be responsible for all aspects of corporation tax compliance for trading entities from calculating tax provisions for the preparation of the financial statements to filing completed computations and returns and supporting the corporation tax compliance cycle for more complex trading entities including calculating corporation tax and deferred tax provisions, calculating payments on account and preparing computations and returns for review.

You're likely to have experience gained within a Partnership, with responsibility for tax and perhaps more general accounting experience in your work history. You'll have experience of managing tax compliance for individuals, partnerships and companies and will have strong knowledge of UK business tax, VAT, employment tax and personal tax. Experience in managing Partner financial matters would be a distinct advantage.
You'll likely be familiar with standard personal and corporation packages with an excellent ability to analyse complex information to make informed decisions. Above all, you'll love working with others, building strong relationships and providing a friendly service. Whilst the role has a good degree of 'routine tasks', due to the nature of a Partnership model, it's likely the role will have a good degree of ad-hoc tasks as well as routine, so no two days are the same!

The firm is a progressive and people-orientated law firm with over 450 dedicated professionals, including 70 partners and 272 lawyers who focus on delivering exceptional services for three groups of people: Individuals & Families, Entrepreneurial Businesses & Organisations and Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence. They have also won awards! Their culture is open, diverse and inclusive; it's an environment of belonging, where people can thrive and be the best version of themselves. We strive to nurture our people and offer enjoyable, fulfilling and sustainable careers. This includes providing the best training, great pay and rewards and more control over work-life balance through flexible working patterns.

As well as a competitive salary, they also offer great benefits including private medical insurance, income protection, life assurance and a generous pension scheme. This role also offers a hybrid or flexible way of working.

If you have the required experience for this position, and it sounds like it could be for you, please apply straight away or feel free to call Debbie Stent directly on 07900 224915 for a confidential discussion.

Please note: All applicants must have the Right to Work in the UK as sponsorship for overseas employees cannot be provided for this role.
