As our Director of Finance and Investment, you will hold responsibility for the finance function overseeing over £1bn of assets and annual income of £20m, several pension schemes, a common investment fund and a large number of trusts. Alongside providing effective leadership to the team in maintaining effective financial management, reporting and controls, you will play a crucial role engaging with our investment advisors to ensure their performance delivers us the maximum benefit. Through uncertain and volatile times, this element of the role is critical. On a national scale, you will work closely with senior finance leaders in our six dioceses to identify any areas where support is required or where improved delivery can be found through closer collaboration. With ambitious strategic plans in place, your role will also work to ensure that our financial resources are managed to deliver on the long term goals that we are keen to realise.
A capable leader, you will combine your technical expertise as a qualified accountant with the ability to provide effective leadership to a small team of finance professionals. You will have worked in a highly regulated environment of comparable complexity to the Representative Body, where strong governance, financial controls and engagement with senior stakeholders have been the norm. Of particular note will be your experience managing relationships with professional advisors in such a way as to deliver positive investment outcomes for the organisation. A capable communicator, you will be comfortable engaging board level stakeholders through persuasion and influence rather than just direct control. You can be of any faith or none to carry out this role, but crucially you will bring an affinity to vision and values of the Church in Wales, recognising the key role it has to play in the life of the nation.
This is a hugely significant role at the heart of the Church in Wales in stewarding our resources and relationships to support the lasting fruitfulness of our mission and ministry. We offer good flexible working arrangements, a positive working culture in a thriving city and, as a key senior leader, you will be provided genuine scope to make a huge impact not just for the organisation, but for the life of the Church in Wales both now and for future generations.
