Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a modern, growing, and well-established Legal Group to recruit for a dynamic and hands-on Management Accountant. With offices situated around the UK, this permanent accounting role is fully remote or remote/office hybrid if wanted. Reporting directly into the Group Finance Manager, you will be responsible for providing the business, timely and accurate business critical financial management information. A varied Management Accounting role offering progression and development within a unique culture. This permanent finance role is open to part-qualified/qualified accountants or qualified by experience professionals. To be considered it is essential that you have experience within the Legal Sector or a Law Firm.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve production of management accounts with supporting variance analysis, balance sheet and control account reconciliations, various journals, and month-end close processes, along with intercompany recharges/reconciliations. You will report on actual spend vs budget, support budgeting/forecasting processes, update daily cash flow for all companies within the group, and assist in the production of the UK VAT returns. You will manage currency cash advances, oversee supplier ledgers (disbursements/expenses), check accuracy of coding on General ledger invoices and budgets codes, along with reconciling credit card transactions to monthly statements. You will oversee the financial legal system and be proactive in financial/data reporting, support the annual audit process, and be involved in ad-hoc projects for Senior Financial Management including process/system improvements.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this varied Management Accountant role, you will need experience working with the Legal sector or a Law firm, part-qualified/qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA or qualified experience, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. You will be used to working in a fast-paced environment, strong problem solver with organisational skills to manage workloads, and meet deadlines. You will be comfortable with IT/Financial systems, strong MS Excel skills, up-to-date knowledge of VAT, and be willing to learn/adapt to business needs. Experience of process mapping/improvement and consolidating groups would be beneficial. Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules, Chrome River, Sage and Aderant systems would be advantageous but not essential.
