Financial Controller job in Norwich - Hybrid and market salary


Hays are seeking applications for a Financial Controller job in Norwich city centre.

This pivotal role will see you supporting the Head of Finance in the delivery of financial and management information, monitoring performance and managing the finance team. The role will report directly to the Head of Finance as well as communicating with Business Unit lead partners and finance leads within the professional teams.

Liaising with client facing teams to drive the firm's overall growth and strategy, you will provide information and commercial challenge on the business plans developed by the groups, commenting on the use of resources and impact of strategies to deliver improvements to productivity and profitable growth. The successful candidate will be a team player capable of managing the finance function and people in the team. You will also work collaboratively across the business, focussing on the delivery of effective reporting and driving profitability and productivity gains across the business.

The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate positively and effectively with all stakeholders. This role will also include the evaluation and development of the supporting Finance service delivery team, as well as performance monitoring to meet internal reporting objectives and ensure statutory responsibilities are met fully in advance of deadlines.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting and reporting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial information and reports, and maintaining appropriate internal controls.
  • Lead and develop a team of people dealing with the various finance functions.
  • Preparation of financial planning reports, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
  • Monitor and control overhead spend.
  • Assist the head of Finance in managing cash flow and treasury functions, including cash management and client accounts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including the partners, heads of business units and finance leads. Develop close relationships with Specialist Departments and individual Business Units to improve understanding of factors influencing financials and to help drive profitability.
  • Preparation of LLP accounts for external audit, liaising with the auditors and meeting statutory deadlines.
  • Ensuring all compliance matters relating to VAT, PAYE and other taxes are prepared to meet deadlines.
  • Dealing with partner specific matters including profit allocations, taxation and control of capital and current accounts.
  • Ensure the Finance Team is structured effectively to deliver all key tasks.
  • Evaluation and development of the Finance Team, acting as a mentor for other members of the team.
  • Consistent accurate delivery by the Finance Team to agreed deadlines.
  • Understand the commercial implications of actions relating to productivity, recoverability, fee income and client service.
  • Attend training courses to develop both technical and personal skills.
  • Developing knowledge to new technologies to support reporting eg use of AI tools, Power Bi etc
