Hays are exclusively recruiting a Head of Finance to join a growing Education Trust here in Bristol
Your new company
One of the leading educational trusts in the South West are going from strength to strength and are now looking to recruit a Head of Finance to join the team reporting into the COO. This is an exciting time to join as the partnership grows, they acquire new schools, plan new state of the art facilities and continue to deliver an exceptional standard of education to the South West region.
Your new role
The Head of Finance will have responsibility for all aspects of the Trusts finances, reporting into the COO and playing a key leadership role. This person, will deliver strong levels of operational efficiencies, strategic direction and play an integral role in supporting the growth and development of the partnership. The role will provide support and line manage a team of finance professionals, split across Management accounting and transactional staff. There is also an opportunity to deliver some key projects, ensuring that the trust is set up for future success. Some key parts of the role will include:
- Contribute fully to all areas of Trust strategy, providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans and targets.
- Ensure the board and Senior Leadership team have regular and accurate information to manage budgets and that an accurate picture is presented of the finances.
- Ensure that internal scrutiny and management of the external audit process, acting as a key link between trustees and audit teams.
- Ensure arrangements for effective payroll and pension administrative systems
- Oversee the preparation for capital grants and bids
- Undertake a lead role in supporting the acquisition and transfer of news schools into the trust
- Deputise and represent the CFO at key meetings
What you'll need to succeed
The client is looking for a qualified accountant, with a strong technical knowledge ideally gained in a public sector, not for profit or government funded business. You should have strong people management skills and be comfortable leading a team through change and transformation. You should have a flexible and adaptable approach to work in an environment where no two days are the same. This person should also have an appetite to get involved with projects outside of finance.
