Your new company

We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager to join our Finance team based in Cheltenham. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and enthusiastic candidate to join a fast- growing renewable energy business recently backed by a large institutional manager as it heads into its next phase of strong growth.


Your new role

This role will report to the Financial Controller although the candidate should expect regular interactions with senior management in other areas of the business.

Key responsibilities include

  • Support the Financial Controller and the finance team in the production of high-quality financial management information for a portfolio of companies, ensuring all financial reporting is of a high standard, accurate, timely and robust.
  • Manage the year-end and audit process for the portfolio of companies and provide assistance to the team to ensure the timetable is met.
  • Manage the deployment of a Purchase Order including an invoice approval function and expense management system.
  • Oversee the treasury management including current cash flow, revenue and actuals cash movements. Supervise and control the preparation of VAT returns and yearly corporation tax ones.
  • Manage FX and fees in relation to FX contracts and international transactions.
  • To lead on assigned finance or company-wide projects and improvement initiatives.
  • Review existing processes and procedures and develop recommendations for business corporate governance and efficiency improvement.
  • To ensure compliance (including tax and debt covenants) is met across the portfolio of companies.
  • Support the M&A transaction teams, both Corporate Finance and Legal, whether on the buy or sell side as may be regularly required.
  • Prepare Board packs and recommendations including improvements that will lead to cost reduction, revenue generation and streamlining operations.



What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified chartered accountant with five plus years post-qualified experience
  • Former auditor background
  • Strong technical accounting background in practice or industry Strong excel skills Able to solve complex problems
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to build relationships
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Can demonstrate a continuous improvement approach to processes and systems.
  • Understanding, background or interest in renewable energy would be a strong plus
  • Staff management experience including recruitment, objective setting, appraisals and managing performance.
