Your new company
Your new company is an organisation within the public sector. We are looking for an experienced Interim Accountant to join this outstanding organisation, supporting the local community. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining their financial operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.

Your new role
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible to the Group Accountant for all financial aspects of revenue accounting for a number of service areas with specific responsibility for the establishment. You will monitor the cash received while liaising with different departments to ensure correct procedures and accuracy. In addition, you will assist with specialist accounting matters.
You will also assist in the closure of accounts and prepare final accounts for assigned service areas, and ensure that good budget monitoring and reporting systems are in place.

What you'll need to succeed

• A degree in Accounting or Finance, or a relevant professional qualification (e.g. AAT, part-qualified ACCA, part-qualified CIMA)
• Demonstrable experience in a similar role in the public sector is highly desirable
• Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulations
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy (essential)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (essential)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of financial systems such as SAP or Oracle would be an advantage
