Financial Controller Role

Your new company
You will work for a professional organisation based in Canterbury, Kent. The Financial Controller role reports to the Finance Director, and you will be responsible for the day-to-day group function, providing leadership, passion, and development to the finance team and ensuring the appropriate financial control environment across the group.

Your new role

  • To ensure the integrity and completeness of financial/administrative transactions/records of each entity within the Group.
  • To determine the appropriate group control/process environment/requirements, communicate such to stakeholders and ensure compliance at all times.
  • To maintain the appropriate systems/processes within the finance function, maximising efficiency/automation where appropriate and ensure all team members are trained on such systems/processes.
  • To provide timely management information including monthly management accounts, weekly KPI reporting, annual budgets and periodic forecasting.
  • To ensure accurate and timely running of weekly and monthly payrolls for all group entities
  • To ensure payments to all group personnel and suppliers are accurately set up in a timely manner ready for authorisation by Directors.
  • To maintain group cashflow reporting, both actual and forecasting
  • To ensure statutory compliance and timely submissions of returns/payments to HMRC including VAT, Duty, PAYE/NI, CT.
  • To ensure completeness of annual audit files and liaise with external auditors on their requirements for the preparation of statutory accounts and tax advisor on corporation tax returns.
  • To proactively contribute to the stakeholder management team
  • To manage, lead and develop your direct reports in all of their HR requirements including absence management, L&D and performance management.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • The appropriate amount of experience in a similar finance role
  • Driven, proactive, self-driven and customer oriented.
  • Ability to communicate with all key stakeholders.
  • A can-do attitude and real flexibility to change and adapt to the day-to-day requirements.
