Job Details

Rare opening to join this exceptional boutique law firm with international repute. Exclusive role to Hays.

Your new company
An nationally and internationally renowned boutique law firm, our client specialises in services to High Net Worth individuals. They specialise in substantial and complex cases that often involve an international element. The team has been hand-picked from the best academic and commercial institutions. The common threads are talent, sheer intelligence and real commitment - they hire the best, to get the best results. An integral part of their offering is that they are able to provide forensic accountancy support to their legal teams and clients to ensure accuracy and guarantee the best possible outcomes on financial matters.

Your new role

This role will be as part of the Financial Forensics team, focusing on the preparation of financial documents for disputes, family matters and other proceedings. You will be fully embedded into client facing teams, which will involve attending meetings with counsel and clients and attending court in an advisory capacity.
You'd be working with two excellent mentors - one Partner and one Director - from large firm Forensic backgrounds.

A full spec is available, but some detail includes:

  • Preparing financially focussed legal documents to assist lawyers in understanding the financial landscape of a case;
  • Assist with the preparation of valuations of corporate interests using a variety of techniques for internal purposes and to enable questioning of expert reports;
  • Contributing to the value in other financial assets such as pensions, trusts, and various banking facilities;
  • Sculpting formal documents explaining your findings on a case, or your thoughts on a report or information received in a way that is accessible for an intelligent, but untrained audience without 'dumbing down' or glossing over important information;
  • Attending meetings directly with clients and be able to articulate clearly the actions you are taking and the impact you expect it to have on the case;
  • Communicating clearly with internal stakeholders about your work and how it impacts them and their clients, contributing towards strategic discussions for a case.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A qualified forensic accountant to around a Senior/Exec or Assistant Manager level.
  • Your background can be investigations or disputes, but if investigations then a little existing exposure to quantum would be ideal
  • You'll have the ability to write persuasively and advocatorially
  • Likely to have an innate leaning towards/ taste for contentious matters (whether or not you've had that many in your forensic experience)
  • You'll be as interested in the words as the numbers

**Please note the firm will not sponsor and therefore this role is only open to UK applicants**

What you'll get in return

  • Working with "shadow experts" and a large team of lawyers
  • Seeing the "pre" and "post" of a case, not simply from appointing an Expert onwards
  • Significantly enhancing your valuations skills - a key foundation skill of 21st century forensic accounting
  • Equally asset-tracing and investigations - often in multiple jurisdictions - could also be a development area if you've not had exposure to that before
  • Excellent employee benefits: private health and dental insurance, and subsidised fitness club membership.
