Our Financial Services Tax Advisory practice is an important part of our wider business at Mazars. With over 35 FS partners and 300 specialist staff in the UK, our growing team provides tailored services to asset management, banking, insurance and real estate clients.  Tax is an integral part of these services.  What draws us together is a shared passion for using our FS industry experience and deep service line knowledge to provide bespoke client advice.

You will work with a variety of clients across start-up, specialist mid-sized and established multinational clients as well as across the breadth of subsectors – including fintechs, banks, capital market participants, securities dealers, general and life insurers, Lloyds insurers, insurance brokers, funds and fund managers.  We operate as an integrated team, which provides opportunities to get involved and gain experience in all these areas, in addition to your primary focus in Asset Management.

Asset Management FS Tax Assistant Manager Role & Responsibilities

The primary focus of the role will be to manage and support the team in providing tax advisory, tax compliance and tax audit services.  This will be built upon a deep understanding of our client's businesses and the subsectors in which they operate.  You will work closely with the Partner, Director and senior manager team to develop strong client relationships, lead tax engagements and deliver high quality tax services – including coordination with indirect tax, employment tax and governance specialists.  Specifically, you will:

  • Support managers, directors and partners in the delivery of client work Develop Insurance sector understanding across insurance, reinsurance, Lloyd', broking life clients and maintain up to date technical knowledge relevant to our client's businesses Undertake legislative research and draft written analyses to support tax advisory Build tax accounting skills and industry knowledge through supporting audits of tax
  • Help deliver high-quality work for clients and profitable outcomes for the business through use of best practices, technology and alignment with Firm policies
  • Work with more junior team members in the delegation and review of work as well as fostering their learning and development Contribute positively to the work environment and well-being of the team

 

Skills, Experience & Knowledge

We are seeking people who are keen to work in a collaborative team environment and develop their project management experience, technical skills and commercial acumen. The role will suit someone comfortable in building relationships, sharing knowledge and delivering technical excellence.  Specific requirements:

  • Qualified or part qualified at ACA, CTA or equivalent
  • Keen interest in the Banking & Capital Markets/Insurance/Real Estate or Asset Management industry with desire to build relevant UK tax expertise Awareness of and willing to maintain up-to-date knowledge of broader business tax, international tax, regulatory and accounting areas Able to take ownership of projects and client engagements, effectively delegate to others and be responsibility for meeting deadlines Able to identify issues, interpret and analyse complex matters, and think creatively to help resolve client issues Experience of managing client financials and adjusting approach according to budget Excellent interpersonal and client handling skills Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Desire to work as part of a team, share experience and proactively support others
