Who are we looking for?

Are you or do you want to become a debt valuation specialist? We are looking for debt valuation specialists and consultants, to support our growth in the financial instrument valuation area of the market.

About the team 

Within the Risk Modelling Services business, the Market Value Direct (“MVD”) team provides financial instrument valuation services in a range of offerings from financial reporting, audit support, during deals and transactions to supporting client decision making. The MVD team values financial instruments from vanilla derivatives through to exotics and complex illiquid debt. 

We are looking to recruit Senior Manager level individuals into our London or Edinburgh offices. The role will focus on the valuation of illiquid debt and supporting our growth in this area. This provides the opportunity for a successful candidate to work in a fast paced business alongside a team which has grown exponentially in the last three years.

About the role

Supported and coached by Associate Directors and Directors within the team, you will work closely with the wider team focusing on leading the delivery of projects to clients, either internal to the firm or externally. The role will also involve helping with various business development activities such as driving pitching to new clients and developing our strategy and proposition.

The role offers you the opportunity to learn a broad range of commercial, financial risk and valuation skills and further develop your own attributes. 

In delivering the role, you would have a high degree of autonomy, using your organisational ability and initiative in completion of tasks. 

 

Key responsibilities will include

  • A debt valuations specialist, who can lead the valuation of a significant and varied repertoire of product types in this area. 

  • Driving the delivery of valuations and advisory services. These services are led by our clients key commercial decisions and can arise in the contexts of commercial deals to regulatory requirements. 

  • Leading projects which support teams in our Audit practice in relation to testing clients financial instrument valuations, encompassing clients across our global network and including a wide range of instrument types

  • Working closely with the leadership team in areas of business development, practice development and strategy – due to the high growth nature of MVD this will be a key component of the role

 

Essential skills and experience

  • A growth mindset!

  • Commercially minded and proactive in growing services through business development

  • Lead and liaise with other team members based in other geographical locations

  • Be numerate with an analytical mindset with high attention to detail

  • Have an interest or background in debt or derivative financial instruments

  • Project management organisational skills and able to prioritise the workload of the team

  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative

  • Clear communication skills which bridge complexity into clear advice

  • Financial modelling experience

 

Desirable skills

  • Willingness to learn hybrid debt and derivative valuations
