Here at Robertson Bell we are excited to be recruiting for a new Head of Finance and Compliance on a permanent and full-time basis. Robertson Bell is a fast growing, employee owned, specialist professional services recruitment agency that operates in the not for profit and public sector. Founded in 2007, we take our work incredibly seriously but not ourselves!

As a result of continued growth we now have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and driven Accountant who can join us in our mission in reaching our ambitious but totally possible goal of doubling the size of our business over the next few years! In this vital role you will report into the CEO and manage two members of staff initially, although this has the potential to increase in the future. There is scope for this role to develop into a CFO/COO role in the future.

The key responsibilities will be:

  • Bring the finance function inhouse and guarantee a smooth transition from the current outsourced provider.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgets and forecasts.
  • Work closely with the CEO, Directors and Sales Managers ensuring they are provided with clear and concise business metrics on a regular basis.
  • Oversee all compliance matters, ensuring you are leading the way in Robertson Bell being a business centre of excellence when it comes to employment law and legislation.
  • Carry out cashflow analysis and flag any potential risks to the CEO.
  • Provide oversight on administrative finance tasks and lead on the management of internal staff payroll and weekly and monthly contractor payroll.
  • Negotiate and monitor contracts with suppliers.
  • Assist the Directors in any contractual disputes, utilising legal advice from external lawyers when necessary.
  • Ensures compliance of all Frameworks, completing or overseeing the monthly MISO Report and NMNC quarterly audit.
  • Responsible for ensuring no contractor works for a client of Robertson Bell without being fully compliant across the relevant right to work checks.
  • Manage a small team, offering regular coaching and direction.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Be an excellent communicator with unwavering attitude and high attention to detail.
  • Either have previous people management experience or a strong aptitude and desire to manage staff.
  • Have a genuine interest in the evaluation and implementation of new technology.
  • Be able to lead and inspire people to deliver, clearly demonstrating our values, behaviour and culture at all times.
