UK retail business based in Manchester seeking an In House VAT Manager

Description

The successful In House VAT Manager will be responsible for:

  • Preparation and submission of the UK VAT return and ensure that VAT compliance checks are conducted, complete and any findings are promptly resolved
  • Ensure VAT compliance across different jurisdictions, and the preparation/management of ad hoc VAT claims/opportunities and their submissions to HMRC
  • Supporting the business in respect of its ongoing activities and specific projects across a variety of jurisdictions, for example, the international movement of goods, and ensuring the most tax-efficient outcome
  • Advising the business on key changes in VAT legislation
  • Building relationships with external advisors, including requesting and implementing advice, as required
  • Some exposure/responsibility for UK corporate tax compliance and tax accounting
  • Developing and delivering VAT training and advice to the wider finance team and other areas of the business

Profile

The successful In House VAT Manager will have/be:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a VAT-focused role
  • A relevant accounting and/or tax qualification, such as ATT CTA ACA ACCA
  • A self-starter with initiative and ability to set own priorities
  • An organised individual and a strong communicator who can liaise confidently with international colleagues
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well in a team environment and develop relationships and rapport with external customers and internal colleagues
