Role Specification  - Audit Manager, Rickmansworth

Main function of job

(Note: in addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required).

This individual will be responsible for managing a portfolio of a broad range of audit clients and some non-audit engagements in Rickmansworth for all general practice partners across the firm.

 

Main duties

Reporting directly to Partners and liaising with other managers as required both in Rickmansworth and around the firm. Management of a portfolio of audit and non-audit clients for audit partners.

Planning, supervision and review of audit including preparing notes for partners. This includes liaising directly with clients and partners and taking responsible for each assignment from planning to completion.

The ability to prepare and supervise the preparation of financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.

Assisting and managing staff with technical accounting and auditing issues.

Actively training and coaching staff and adding value to their development, this may be presenting to staff or being involved in the development of internal courses.

Assisting in the generation of new business across the service lines including assisting partners in audit tenders.

Developing and improving the client service delivery function in Rickmansworth, whilst adding value to the team by developing new methods and ways of working.

Audit of accounts typically with a turnover up to £80 million, including group accounts.

Audit of specialist organisations such as solicitors, charities & not-for-profit, or FCA registered companies is desirable. 

Preparation of business tax computations using the support of the tax team where required.

The above includes day to day supervision of junior staff as appropriate.

Billing and monitoring actual costs against budgets and reporting to partners on variances.

Drafting bills on a monthly basis for review by partners.

 

Equipment used

Use of computer packages including CCH Accounts Production, CCH ProAudit, Alphatax, MS Suite, Sage 50, Quickbooks, Xero.

 

Qualifications/education required

ACA/ACCA

 

Experience required

An audit manager within a similar organisation who has trained within a Chartered Practice and is used to dealing with small and medium sized enterprises with turnovers up to £80 million.  Good working knowledge of FRS 102 and auditing standards is a required and some IFRS experience is desirable.

 

Aptitudes / skills required

Strong knowledge of accounting (including incomplete records) and auditing

Able to deal confidently and effectively with clients, staff and partners

Able to provide on the job training for staff as appropriate, identifying training needs and ensuring appropriate support is provided as needed.

Able to multitask and work to deadlines.

Self-starter, able to motivate others.

Hands on and able to take a practical approach being involved in work at all levels

Proven managerial skills and experience

A passion to become part of a growing team and help to promote the technical expertise of the team and increase its profile both internally and externally
