The Head of Finance responsible for directing a Finance Team and structuring their work to meet the changing needs of a dynamic organisation. You will identify and adopt best practises and innovations from within the industry to help the organisation fulfil its evolving needs. You will be in charge of leading the finance function and ensuring that it is a trusted partner providing great financial services to internal and external stakeholders.

Their programmes enable members to carry out humanitarian work all over the world. They aim to usher in a new era of humanitarian activity that will save even more lives. They are not motivated by media coverage or political will.


  • You will be in charge of financial strategy and planning to help us become a significant international grant recipient, including assisting in the development and implementation of grant administration systems and processes.
  • Take the lead on specialised and innovative finance projects to suit the organisation's changing needs and ensuring financial systems and procedures are adaptable, offering assistance and advice to colleagues in their use.
  • Oversee critical components of financial planning across the organisation, such as risk management and scenario planning, in collaboration with the CFO.
  • Develop financial models to help the organisation manage financial sustainability as its operating model evolves. This will also offer monthly forecasting of going concern.
  • You will oversee the development of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and ensuring their distribution to managers. You will also be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the annual budget delivery plan, which will be used to inform business decisions.
  • Monitor the donor grant pipeline to ensure that future funding targets are conveyed accurately to the resource mobilisation team. You will also handle recoveries and fund balances as well as evaluate donor income against budgets.
  • You will supervise consultants and other third-party contractors as needed, primarily Payroll and VAT service providers for the time being. You will also be responsible for monitoring performance and ensuring that KPIs and targets are met or surpassed.
  • Lead the statutory accounts process, ensuring appropriate resources and processes are in place to fulfil our demands, and serving as the primary point of contact with external auditors.


  • Qualified finance professional: ACCA, ACA, CIPFA, or CIMA with a track record of successfully leading a financial partnering service, managing a high-calibre, multi-disciplinary team to deliver against challenging timeframes.
  • Strong experience creating financial models, operating principles, and managing complicated budgeting and reporting systems.
  • Proven project and team management ability.

Job Offer

  • £54,400 - £65,000 per annum (negotiable for the right candidate).
  • 2 days a week in office.
  • 27 days annual leave including public and bank holidays.
  • Ability to work in other foreign offices.
