Job Details

Your main responsibilities will include month-end activities such as journal production and review, and the development and maintenance of control frameworks and reconciliation controls. Additionally, you will be responsible for producing insightful analysis of key variances and trends for presentation to senior members of the finance team.

Description

  • Supporting the Head of Finance in key financial accounting activities, including primary ownership of several key business areas.
  • Playing a key role in the year-end process, including the preparation of the Annual Report and Accounts and statutory accounts for subsidiary entities and liaising with external auditors.
  • Month-end activities such as journal production and review, development and maintenance of control frameworks, and production of insightful analysis of key variances and trends for presentation to senior members of the finance team.
  • Determining accounting policies, judgements and estimates in relation to all areas of financial accounting and interpreting and implementing new accounting standards.
  • Act as key liaison with tax advisers and responsible for the preparation of the companies tax disclosures within the Annual Report and Accounts, and the preparation and submission of corporation tax returns to HMRC.
  • Act as primary owner of areas such as EIR, impairment, hedge accounting and defined benefit pension accounting.
  • Support the Head of Finance in determining accounting policies, judgements and estimates in relation to all areas of financial accounting, and in the interpretation and timely implementation of new accounting standards.

Profile

  • Candidates must be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Experience in financial accounting and preparation of statutory accounts under FRS102 or IFRS accounting standards is essential and relevant financial services industry experience and/or audit experience within accountancy practice is desirable.
  • Excellent technical accounting expertise, with practical knowledge and experience
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Confident written and verbal communications skills;
  • Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team;
  • Experience of implementing new accounting standards from an industry or auditor perspective and/or experience of implementing, upgrading or redesigning financial systems (eg general ledger)
