Job Title: Post Deals Team - Senior Manager

With clients ranging from multinational organisations and public sector bodies to entrepreneurs and family businesses, the work we do is diverse.

Our Real Estate Deals tax team works closely with our Deals practice to advise on the tax implications of all aspects of real estate deals, but our relationships extend far beyond transactions. The team includes a specialist Post Deals Services team which helps clients manage and drive value post transaction by working collaboratively across specialisms and help our clients succeed at all stages of the deal lifecycle. We have a market leading client base of some of the most active and dynamic investors and we pride ourselves on the strength of our network. Recent changes to the REIT regime, together with other market dynamics have seen an increase in the demand for REIT specialists within the team.

About the role

We are looking for ambitious corporate tax specialist with first hand experience of REIT compliance to help grow and support our fast-expanding REIT practice. You will also develop our presence in the market place, as well as build your reputation across PwC’s global network. Core focus areas of the role include:

  • Responsibility for managing a client portfolio of UK REITs: you will be responsible for leading client relationships on a portfolio of UK REIT clients, taking responsibility for current work while also seeking to generate new work opportunities. You will be responsible for ensuring that client communication is pitched at the right level and delivered by appropriate team members in a timely manner.  

  • Winning REIT compliance: Working closely alongside the Deals structuring team you will be responsible for transitioning clients into REIT compliance, and using this as a platform to broaden our PwC relationships

  • Supporting REIT proposals: You will develop your existing knowledge and experience of REITs and provide specialist support to proposals, demonstrating insight and strong industry knowledge. 

  • You will develop and enhance your profile with the REIT teams at HMRC to help deliver industry insights to our clients and evidence strong REIT credentials. 

  • REIT network: you will play a leading role in the development and education of the team, working alongside our Real Estate learning and development team to share insights, and to help develop REIT specialists within the real estate tax team, contributing actively to a strong coaching culture.

  • REIT compliance: You will work with our specialist technology teams to enhance and develop the tools used for delivery of tax services to REITs. 

  • Team Management: You will be responsible for leading large client teams, providing a high degree of leverage to partners while overseeing the day to day work of the team and co-ordinating the input of specialists and our international network. You will also be responsible for providing detailed and constructive feedback to your colleagues throughout the year and at formal review times.

  • You will have a significant level of involvement in the generation of new business for our team. This will include identifying opportunities to develop new clients and having a high degree of involvement in converting leads, developing personal relationships with existing clients, leading proposals with partner support and contributing to the development of client propositions. You will also take an active role in contributing to the adoption and development of tax technology within the team. 

  • Finances: You will be responsible for the financial management and profitability of your client engagements including reviewing budgets, maintaining efficiency and billing on a timely basis.

  • Personal development: You will be supported in your personal development to enable you to stay current with technical developments including changes in tax law and legislation in the UK. You will also play a role in the technical development and training of your team both formally through training sessions and in day-to-day interactions. 

Essential skills and experience

  • UK professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/ATT/CTA/legal qualification) or overseas equivalent.

  • Direct experience working with or for UK REITs

  • a flexible approach to allow you to work as part of a number of client teams simultaneously.

  • experience of developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internally.

  • strong analytical skills and a proven ability to solve complex problems in a collaborative and creative way.

  • experience of project managing and delegating work within a team context.

  • a focus on self-development and in the development of others in your teams.
