VAT Accountant, Warwickshire, £50,000-£60,000


HAYS are delighted to be partnering with a global Manufacturing business headquartered in Warwickshire to recruit for a VAT Accountant on a permanent basis. My client distributes their products globally through thousands of independent dealers and distributors in more than 140 countries worldwide. The successful candidate will manage the VAT return submissions and reconciliations, as well as completion of tax returns and payments. They will also be responsible for related balance sheet account reconciliations for VAT and Tax, intrastats and regulatory reporting. This role would suit a qualified, customer-focused Accountant, who is passionate about driving efficiency and continuous improvement.

This role is being offered on a permanent basis and is paying up to £58,000 + bonus dependent on experience.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

• Managing circa 21 entity VAT returns (including monthly, quarterly, bi-monthly and one annual), including 15 AIG returns, and corresponding preparation of paperwork for payment
• Managing the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations
• Managing intrastrats reporting and other regulatory reporting
• Key point of contact between the business and local authorities - manage the relationship with tax team
• Managing the relationship with external auditors
• Introduction of common processes, to drive efficiency and quality improvements within team
• Involvement in other adhoc projects as and when required

In order to be successful in this role you will:

• Be a Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
• Have experience working with VAT on preparation and review, ideally with overseas experience.
• Have experience of balance reconciliations.
• Have experience of instrastat reporting
• Have experience with European VAT advice
