Our client is an industry-leading Energy & Utilities business based in Reading, seeking a Tax Specialist with VAT expertise to join their highly skilled team.


The Tax Specialist - VAT role is predominantly focused on supporting the Indirect Tax Manager with the preparation and timely submission of monthly and quarterly VAT returns and the CCL return, including reconciling different data sets and performing credibility checks.

You'll also prepare tax returns for some of the smaller entities in the Group as well as assisting with the accounting for tax and provision of tax numbers for inclusion in statutory accounts, forecasting and business plans for numerous entities within the business.

The Tax Specialist will be actively involved in effecting system and process improvements from an indirect tax perspective including testing and verifying accuracy of data from new sources, and assist with ad-hoc projects as and when requested by the Direct and Indirect Tax Managers.


We'd like to hear from candidates with:

    Experience in VAT compliance and understand the requirements for VAT return / MTD - any technical /advisory VAT experience would be an advantage.Sound knowledge and competency with Excel and different accounting softwareExcellent communication skills, both written and oral, and confidence to communicate at all levelsFirst class analytical skills and attention to detailGood commercial awareness and understanding of the business needs
