From our office

The Henrietta Barnett School is one of the UK’s top state schools and was recently named the Top State School in the country for academic achievement in the Sunday Times Parent Power  Guide for 2023.

The School was founded in 1911 by Dame Henrietta Barnett, a social reformer, who believed in the power of education to shape people’s livesShe built the School on the principle that education should be open to girls from different backgrounds to study and learn together and from each other. This remains at the heart of our approach.

We provide a broad education that is ambitious, varied and stimulating.  Academic excellence and a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities are offered in an open, caring and supportive environment.  We promote curiosity of mind, independence of spirit and a love of learning.  Currently, we have nearly 800 girls aged 11 – 19 on roll, of which over 250 are in the sixth form.

We are looking for a talented and highly skilled School Business Manager who relishes the chance to join our Senior Leadership Team.  Reporting to the Headteacher, you will play a key role in steering our financial strategy alongside managing the day-to-day operations and support services of the School.  You will focus on operational efficiency to ensure that we provide high quality value for money services resulting in the best education possible for our young people.

A qualified Accountant or Business Manager, you will have a track record of strategic and operational financial management/stewardship.  You may well be keen to find a more worthwhile context to utilise your expertise.  Previous experience of working in an education setting may be useful but is not essential.  Of more importance is a value set that matches ours, alongside exceptional interpersonal skills, a commercial acumen and the ability to learn and adapt quickly.

This is a stimulating environment where you can work with highly committed and exceptional educators, staff and students and make a real difference to the lives of young people.  If this is of interest, we would like to hear from you.  For a confidential discussion, please contact our advising consultant Mike Phillips (mike.phillips@pentir.com) or telephone 07830 313 915).  For more information and to download the full information on the role visit https://www.pentir.com/roles/HenriettaBarnettSchool/

Closing date: Monday 30th January

The Henrietta Barnett School values the diversity of our staff and students and all of our staff are equally valued and respected.
