Senior Technical Manager, Audit and AssuranceLondonPermanent - Hybrid working 2 days in the office, 3 from homeFull Time£85,000pa depending on experience Overall Purpose of this role of Senior Technical Manager, Audit and Assurance: To play a lead role in:the determination of ICAEW policy in relation to audit quality, UK and EU audit reform, and proposals for the improvement of UK and international auditing and assurance standards and practice.the production of high quality, timely resources to support for ICAEW members on audit and assurance issues. This role offers significant variety alongside opportunities to build on specialist knowledge and expertise in core or emerging areas of audit and assurance. Responsibilities of Senior Technical Manager, Audit and Assurance The Senior Technical Manager will have the following primary responsibilities: Engaging directly with key stakeholders within and outside the profession on key policy issues and challenges in audit and assurance, identifying issues of concern and convening meetings with volunteers from firms and others.Building own and team expertise in key areas of audit and assurance, developing ICAEW technical policy positions through the formulation of formal representations to regulators and standard setters and coordinating outreach to ICAEW members.Creating and curating high quality implementation support and guidance for ICAEW members on auditing and assurance standards and other requirements, drawing on expertise gained in policy work, and making use of articles, guides, and other content, moderating webinars, and participating in relevant events.Championing audit quality across the profession by proactively responding to challenges and developing influential thought leadership.Collaborating with departments across ICAEW to deliver audit and assurance content and events of the highest quality.Raising awareness and communicating key developments to members through writing articles for ICAEW Insights, online Audit & Beyond, and other media channels.Line managing one or more Technical Managers in the Audit and Assurance Faculty. These responsibilities will involve working closely ICAEW's Director, Audit and Corporate Reporting, the Head of Audit and Assurance Strategy and other members of the Audit & Assurance Faculty team, expert volunteers on committees, and other teams across ICAEW to help identify issues and challenges and the need for new guidance. Specific duties will vary and will change over time in line with the business needs. Part-time and hybrid/home-based working considered. Candidate Requirements for Senior Technical Manager, Audit and Assurance An ICAEW Chartered Accountant with strong audit technical work experience, with a good understanding of developments affecting audit and assurance, and an attention to detail. An interest in emerging issues such as sustainability and wider ESG assurance would be helpful; this role will provide the opportunity to enhance skills in this and other developing areas. A strong team worker, and good communicator with good interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage with policy makers and leaders of the profession. Strong project management skills with the ability to plan effectively and focus resource to best effect, including the ability (i) to monitor your own work and priorities, as well as those of any colleague line managed by you, (ii) to engender a good working relationship with colleagues across ICAEW and (iii) to ensure activities and policy are aligned with and supportive of ICAEW's Strategy. An ability to be flexible and react quickly to rapidly changing demands from volunteers and senior management within ICAEW.
