Hays are working exclusively for this national charity to recruit a Head of Finance into the team


Hays have been retained by a long-standing client, HFT, to recruit a new Head of Finance to manage and lead the team, reporting into the Chief Corporate Services Officer.

Your new company
HFT is one of the largest and longest established charities supporting people with learning disabilities across the UK. They now have 20 locations where they offer a variety of support services to adults with learning disabilities, autism and family carers. The focus is to put people at the centre of everything that they do and there is now a need for an experienced Head of Finance to manage a large finance team and ensure that they can provide the best possible services.

Your new role
Reporting into the Chief Corporate Services officer, the primary focus is to ensure the financial sustainability using working capital and asset resources to plan and manage organisational funding. This role will be accountable for the Finance departments strategic and transactional way of working meeting all delivery standards and KPIs. This involves leading the sales ledger, purchase ledger and management accounts team which is formed by 20 people. The post holder will be required to regularly interact with the board and present papers at senior leadership meetings working with the Chief Corporate Services Officer in the strategic planning process. This role is also responsible for yearend accounts and managing the external audit process. They are also implementing a new system so this person would be involved in part of the project implementation and testing of new systems.


What you'll need to succeed
HFT are looking for a qualified accountant, in either ACCA, ACA OR CIMA that is comfortable managing large transactional teams in a medium sized business. To be successful in this role, you should be happy to both lead a team but also roll up your sleeves to deliver complex, challenging but exciting workload to the standards required. The organisation are also going through a systems transformation so prior experience in implementation of new systems would be beneficial. Charity experience is not essential but would be beneficial.

What you'll get in return
The client is offering a salary up to £70,000 plus benefits. They are working very flexibly, meaning that you will only be required to come to the office in Bristol, a couple of times a month, with the occasional travel to other offices.
