Job Purpose: To adopt a business partnering approach to ensure that Finance is in a position to support yet challenge the charity and add value through the analysis and interpretation of actual performance and opportunities across all aspects of the business.

Description

Key responsibilities for a Finance Business Partner :


1. Supports Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) and their teams, and external agencies with planning, modelling, and analysis of financial information.#


2. Acts a two way conduit for information between the business area and all areas of finance.


3. Supports SLT in ensuring all major decisions consider

  • Impacts on KPIs and corporate and business plans
  • Funding sources
  • Capital expenditure impacts
  • Risks and internal controls
  • Delivery mechanisms and their governance
  • Statutory and regulatory landscape such as EU tendering; legal; VAT
  • Impacts on existing or new management information

4. Support SLT in regular and ad-hoc decision making including business cases, new products, option appraisals and pricing.


5. Ensure business understands and delivers against performance KPIs through business as usual and agreed change initiatives


6. Supports business/operational plan reviews to ensure plans reflect business reality, & appraises current performance.


7. To support SLT in the risk management and internal control cycle.


8. Ensures non-compliance of controls is resolved and communicated as appropriate.

Profile

The successful Finance Business Partner will be:

  • Qualified or qualified by experience and Applies financial knowledge and professional ethics to everyday activities.
  • Ensure standards, accounting and IT knowledge is kept up-to-date through Continuous Professional Development.
  • Proactively keep abreast of changes and new approaches in the field of financial analysis.
  • Ensure the charity managers understand their budgetary responsibilities and build relationships that provide for best practice budget management and forecasting.
  • Uses personal persuading and influencing skills to act as a 'critical friend' to business owners
  • Up-to-date appreciation of the potential of new tools, techniques and systems to support the strategic decision-making of the charity.
  • Substantial knowledge of financial and enterprise risk management frameworks and their application to the business areas.
