Job Details

While the UK sorts itself out, why not go offshore for a couple of years and build your Expert profile?
Your new company
My client is an independent insolvency, fraud investigation and dispute resolution firm, with professionals working from offices in across several global locations. They have several USP's compared to their competitors, including a more balanced business across Insolvency, Restructuring and Forensic/Forensic Technology. Many cases they run are "ahead of the headlines" and casework is a healthy balance of large/complex and core/volume.
The Cayman Islands is the leading domicile for investment funds, attracting 80% of all new offshore fund formations. Cayman is estimated to house more than 75% of the world's offshore hedge funds and nearly half of the industry's estimated US$1.1 trillion of assets under management. Cayman is therefore an ideal option for qualified Insolvency professionals looking to relocate offshore and gain or enhance their financial services exposure.
Your new role
A Director or MD level opportunity has arisen in the Cayman. You would take appointments from the start (jointly if necessary) and be encouraged to further your own profile through business development across several jurisdictions.
Casework includes:
- Formal insolvency appointments (often large) & Corporate Recovery assignments
- Restructuring and work-outs
- Strategic exits
- Forensic and Cross Border Fraud investigations
- Contentious/Litigious matters
- F Tech and E Discovery
- Distressed asset sales and asset recovery
and plenty of other related cases.
The emphasis of the WIP and projects you attract will usually have a significant Litigious/Contentious element to them. The firm is increasingly driven towards being regarded as Experts in Forensic work - funds/admins/directorships/corporate governance etc. Litigation is often necessary to collect assets, so some resilience and determination is required!
What you'll need to succeed
A full specification is available, but in brief:
- JIEB qualified
- Insolvency experience to at least SM/AD level (for Director) and to Director level for MD.
- "Normal formal" insolvency experience is absolutely fine, but existing experience in complex, contentious or litigious work would be a distinct advantage.
- Insolvency experience to have been gained in the UK or in a UK-legacy legislature region (eg Australasia)
- The appetite to develop business and grow your own Expert profile
What you'll get in return
- 0% income tax
- A generous package inc..pension, health, discretionary bonus
- Help with relocation
- A climate which is consistently balmy with gentle breezes
- A fantastic outdoor, leisure and social life
- A natural "break point" every year at visa renewal
- And if/when you choose to return to your home jurisdiction....Highly desirable and marketable experience on your cv that makes you stand out from the crowd
