Job Details

Your new company
Our client is a long established and very well-regarded full-service firm. Their Forensic team has forged an especially strong reputation in a specialist area of Forensics, which competes directly with the Big 4, and it is that team who are now looking for newly/recently qualified ACA/ACCA's from an audit background to convert into the field.

The team is large and experienced, acting for an array of vast multi-national and listed companies across the world. Their main competition is from the Big 4 Accountancy firms, but our client is ahead on depth of experience and expertise across the sectors in which they operate (including TV, Film, Pharma, Automotive, Sport, Brand Extension and Gaming). Operating effectively as a boutique practice, they can move as flexibly and swiftly to meet their client's requirements. Substantial and ongoing growth over the last 10 years mean they are looking to expand the team yet further.

Your new role
This forensic team have a market-leading specialism in royalties assurance and contract compliance investigations. You'd also engage in occasional wider forensic project work such as disputes or fraud investigation. Day to day though, the role will involve carrying out a portfolio of projects across a variety of industries, helping maximise the benefits gained from the relationships their clients have with their business partners, Licensees and Suppliers.
A typical engagement will involve your:

  • Understanding the nature of the relationship between the client organisation and its partners;
  • Performing risk assessments of contract documentation;
  • Undertaking detailed and comprehensive data analysis which allows us to quantify the financial and operational compliance with the contract;
  • Covid permitting, performing on-site fieldwork and audit testing, and acting in a robust manner, with integrity to identify the facts, agreeing findings with third parties and communicating important issues in a clear, succinct manner;
  • Supporting the client and potentially the third party through discussions with relevant stakeholders;
  • Writing reports detailing the financial and operational issues highlighted during their work;
  • Providing timely and useful feedback that can enhance future relationships and activities, both at clients and the third parties they interact with.

Working in this Forensic field entails a mixture of working in the office, client sites and visiting third parties' premises , which provides variety and a well-rounded mix of work environments. The role can involve travel across the world, including Europe and the USA, and possibly the Far East and Central and South America.

What you'll need to succeed

  • ACA/ACCA qualified
  • Training/background in external audit/assurance
  • A strong interest in developing skills within compliance/royalties investigations and assurance
  • The skills to deal directly with both clients representing large multi-national conglomerates and the Suppliers and Licensees being audited.
  • Very good excel and data manipulation/extraction skills for large volumes of data
  • Working under deadline pressure, and often on multiple simultaneous projects
  • A 2nd language often advantageous

The firm would be especially keen to speak to an audit-background qualified with Portuguese as a 1st/2nd language.

What you'll get in return

  • High quality on the job training from highly skilful experts
  • A high-adrenalin role with plenty of client interaction
  • Dealing with and on behalf of some of the largest corporates in the world in their fields
  • Big 4 equivalent work, but with the agility of working in a "boutique" structure
  • Hybrid working (2 days a week min. office-based)
  • Core hours policy
  • Suite of other benefits
