Hays Senior Finance have been enlisted with the recruitment of a Qualified Finance Leader to join the business as Finance Director reporting directly into the MD and sitting on the board.

My client is a leading SME with a turnover of around £75m, with interests across sales & distribution, wholesaling and infrastructure.

This role could suit an experienced Financial Controller or Head of Finance that is looking to step up into a number one role within a rapidly growing and highly profitable privately owned business or an experienced hands on Finance Director.

You will be joining a fast paced owner managed business and as such you will be a high calibre, collaborative, ambitious and commercially orientated finance leader to support, develop and execute the businesses strategy.

During the last 3 years the business has successfully upgraded all core IT systems and reporting systems, creating excellent business management and insight; as such the role holder can expect to be strategically focussed on driving sustainable business improvement.

You will need interface regularly with the Owner / Majority Shareholder and a Non Executive Director who comprise the Board of Directors alongside the MD. It is the Board's expectation that the role holder will fully own and ensure absolute compliance with audit requirements, HMRC / tax requirements, credit insurance management, completion and submission of statutory accounts & banking relationships.

This position is also high commercial supporting the wider business with commercial decision support, bid management and assess risk in new commercial opportunities with influence on pricing for contractual frameworks

Attributes and Experience

The ideal candidate will be formally qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and have at least 5 years PQE including experience gained working within a finance leadership capacity with responsibility for guidance and mentorship of a large finance team.

Experience gained within a SME or Divisional business is desirable due to broad and hands no nature of this position working across commercial and operational areas of finance. A good level of IT Literacy is essential to include 1st class analytical skills using MS Excel as this candidate will be the lead for both commercial and future investment analysis and modelling for the business.

In return a highly varied and progressive role can be offered forming a part of the board for a rapidly expanding business.
