Summary of the key purposes of the role

To provide appropriate tax technical assistance and advice regarding taxation of Clients, relevant changes to tax regulations that affect the private bank and ensure compliance to the Tax Code of Conduct.

Summary of responsibilities

Assist the Head of Tax with the following assignments:

  • Provide tax technical advice on FATCA, CRS and similar regimes (e.g., DAC 6 and MDR) and on-going recommendations across different jurisdictions, including addressing to general queries and providing tax technical input for all staff.

  • Provide tax technical advice on the US Qualified Intermediary (QI)/ withholding tax regime (covering tax withholding, reporting and documentation requirements (W-8s, W-9s, W8 IMYs, etc.) and assist with effective implementation of the QI Compliance Program for both Trust and Private Banking businesses.

  • Prepare the Group's Tax Regulatory Watch on a quarterly basis, highlighting all tax legislative/ regulatory changes that impact the business in the UK, Jersey, Guernsey, and Gibraltar (for both Bank and Trust businesses).

  • Provide tax support on the banking platforms/ systems developments and attend to weekly meetings;

  • escalate to Head of Tax on any concerns on the tax capabilities designed by the service providers.

  • Prepare tax-based risk reviews for new and existing clients of the bank and assist front office with ad hoc client tax queries.

  • Support with other regulatory tax regimes impacting the entities, including HMRC BBSI and ISA reporting, Italian withholding tax reporting, etc.

  • Ensure the appropriate implementation and monitoring of the Group's Tax Code of Conduct.

  • Contact and collaborate with the rest of the tax network dedicated to PRIV.

  • Prepare tax training decks on existing and new regulations and assist the Group Tax Team to deliver training sessions.

  • Maintain internal repository of tax onboarding documents, tax training decks and any other tax-related papers prepared for the KH staff and/or clients.
