Hays are Exclusively Partnered with a Leading Financial Services business in Glasgow as they recruit a Financial Accountant. Our client are an established commercial business with over 100 years experience in the field. The Financial Accountant will join a Fortune 500 business on a growth journey. Based in Glasgow you will operate under a hybrid working model where you have autonomy to develop and add value.

This role is a currently a 12 month contract with significant potential for a permanent role beyond that. Our client offer a generous pension of 7% employer contribution, 34 days holiday, flexible benefits including buy/sell holiday, health care and much more.

Your new role
The Financial Accountant will work alongside a wider team of 40 in Finance and will be responsible for the preparation of statutory accounts, board reporting, and work closely with the external Auditors. The team are responsible for preparing the statutory accounts for all UK legal entities. You will work with all areas of the business to ensure delivery of accurate statutory accounts, board reports, FCA reports and other accounting tasks whilst gaining an understanding of the core processes.

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for P&L reporting, balancesheet reconciliations, FCA reporting and will work under IFRS and FRS 102 standard. This is a commercial role with analysis and detailed commentary to senior management.

You will also support with adhoc project work across the business including process improvement activities.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a fully qualified accountant with experience in a technical accounting role across a complex structure. You will have have experience ideally in IFRS reporting or similar standards and will have a pro-active approach. You will work as part of a collaborative team with strong stakeholder management skills and ability to tell the story behind the numbers
