About the team

Our Deals Tax team works closely with our Deals practice to advise on the tax implications of all aspects of transactions including; Mergers & Acquisition, Business Recovery Services and Real Estate, but our relationships extend far beyond transactions. Our Post Deals Services team “PDS” is part of the Deals team. Its’ purpose is to help clients manage and drive value post transaction by working collaboratively across specialisms and help our clients succeed at all stages of the deal lifecycle.We have a market leading client base of some of the most active and dynamic investors and we pride ourselves on the strength of our network.

The team operates on a national basis so that no matter where individuals are located, we bring the best experts to our clients and the broadest range of opportunities to our people. The majority of the team are based in the Midlands, centred on our new offices in One Chamberlain Square, Birmingham, but we work flexibly and as a team we are proud of the improvements to working practices that we have been able to achieve while dealing with the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic. About the role

The focus of our team is our clients, ensuring that we provide innovative ideas and high levels of service. As a Senior Associate within the team you will work on a portfolio of clients, covering a broad range of tax issues, including group structuring, financing, real estate, and overseas taxes. You will work closely with our tax compliance teams to ensure delivery of computations to our clients. You will also work closely with other areas of the local tax practice, such as VAT, Stamp taxes, Capital Allowances and Transaction Structuring. Responsibilities include the following;

  • Work in a team to deliver bespoke tax advice and compliance services in a fast-paced and evolving deals market

  • Play a key role in developing relationships with clients and junior members of the team

  • Seek specialist input from other parts of tax and wider network - in particular working collaboratively with the deals tax teams on deals, the compliance delivery team and non-UK teams

  • Be actively involved in business development activities, helping to identify and research opportunities with new and existing clients

  • Use technical knowledge and commercial awareness to help solve important problems for our clients

  • Take responsibility for developing your own and the team's technical and business acumen; keeping up to date with business and economic issues, industry insights and sharing your experience and technical knowledge as part of a team.

Essential skills and experience

We are looking to recruit high calibre, ambitious individuals, accustomed to working as part of a team and comfortable dealing with new or unfamiliar technical challenges. Individuals must be interested in relationship development as extensive client contact should be expected. Essentials skills and experience include;

  • UK accountancy or tax qualification (ACA, ACCA and/or CTA) or comparable overseas equivalent.

  • Strong academic background

  • Ability to identify critical & relevant data sources

  • Proven numerical, analytical and strategic thinking skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to use tax technical knowledge & insights in a fast paced commercial environment
