Job Details

Hays are currently working with a local council to recruit a Financial Accountant on a permanent basis.

Your new company
Working for the Financial Services division of this local government organisation, the finance team consists of 50 people and they are looking for someone to join the team as a Financial Accountant. They work with the local region, investing significant amounts of money in infrastructure schemes covering public transport, road, education and flood mitigation in order to support the team of the area.

Your new role
Reporting into a Finance Manager, they are looking for someone to take the lead on the development and production of annual statement of accounts. Within this role you will:

  • Lead on the production of statutory government returns
  • Take the lead on all audit requirements
  • Ensure that there is compliance in line with latest accounting standards
  • Prepare and contribute towards formal reports acting as a principle point of contact for financial support, advice and guidance


What you'll need to succeed

Ideally you will be a qualified accountant, although the client would look at someone that is qualified by experience. Ideally you will be comfortable with coordination and management of the yearly audit and be comfortable undertaking analysis and communicating results to key stakeholders

What you'll get in return
The client is offering a local government pension, with plenty of opportunity to work remotely. The team tries to get together 1/2 days per month here in Bristol. In addition, they are offering a salary up to £48,500.
