My client is seeking a qualified Finance Manager who will be reporting directly into the Head of Finance. The successful candiate will join the Central team, based in the West Midlands, to to ensure the long term viability of the trust through robust financial control.

My client is a large Multi Academy Trust based in Birmingham. They are now seeking an experienced Finance Manager to drive the organisation's performance by supporting optimal decision making and business improvements.

Description

  • Lead and establish a culture of excellence and encourage the attitudes and respect needed to optimise individuals' talents and to develop positive relationships between team members
  • To provide financial assurance and assistance to the National Director of Finance
    (NDF) and central finance team members
  • Support the NDF and Head of Finance in developing and maintaining the strategic financial plan
  • Liaising with Executive Team via regular meetings to understand finance implications of activities within functional areas, providing financial and technical guidance to nonfinance team members
  • Provide business partnering and financial support to functions
  • Assist in the production of external reporting e.g. statutory accounts, ESFA grant reporting, reporting to funders etc
  • Produce accurate, timely, monthly management reporting
  • Provide regular reports for budget holders
  • Lead the central transactional finance team, managing a performance culture focused on achieving accurate financial reporting and cost effective financial management
  • Line management of the Assistant Finance Manager, providing coaching and mentoring to ensure effective performance within this role
  • Support the year-end reporting process for the trust, working closely with external auditors and central finance teams to ensure accurate and timely provision of information
  • Review of draft payroll reports for Head Office staff
  • Development of budgets for all Head Office functions, liaising with the members of the Executive team and other functional leads, and working closely with the NDF
  • Support the Estates team to track and account for all capital projects in line with the trust's policies

Profile

  • Must have experience of managing a finance team
  • Up-to-date knowledge of accountancy and professional codes of practice
  • Managing and working in a large and complex organisation which operates across
    multiple sites (experience within an academy environment highly desirable)
  • A professional level qualification in accounting (CCAB or equivalent)
  • Excellent Excel and data analysis skills
  • Previous experience in Project Accounting
  • Capital grant funding experience (highly desirable)
