Financial Controller -Colchester/Hybrid - £70,000 to £75,000 plus bonus and benefits

Your new company
A highly successful international group with offices near Colchester, Essex are looking to recruit a Financial Controller to take responsibility for the UK business. They will be a good people manager who enjoys building a team environment, developing their team, processes, controls, reporting and business partnering the UK Managing Director. This role is hybrid 50/50 remote and office.

Your new role
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established group who are investing in their people and technology and have exciting growth plans. Reporting into the Group Finance Director the Financial Controller will be a member of the SMT, lead the finance team and provide business partner support to the Managing Director and heads of Sales & Marketing and Operations to provide high quality management information with key analysis to support and help drive strategy and performance.

Key areas of Responsibility

  • Provide decision support to the business leaders
  • Manage the monthly reporting cycle.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes for the Business.
  • Design, implementation and monitoring of financial controls (internal controls) and systems to improve efficiency. Ensure all statutory and tax reporting is completed on time and accurately for businesses supported by the UK team, UK, Ireland and consolidate branch information for statutory purposes internationally.
  • Develop and then lead procurement for the UK
  • Ensure the organization is resourced with the appropriate skills, capabilities, systems, and processes to deliver the finance strategy successfully.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the finance team in order to deliver an effective service and efficient service.
  • Other tasks as the business grows and develops.



What you'll need to succeed

The Financial Controller will be:

  • Qualified Accountant with significant post qualification experience in industry.
  • Proven track record of achievement as a finance leader with the ability to drive and motivate a diverse and multicultural team. Must have experience in supporting businesses outside of the UK.
  • Effective delegator, but also prepared to get their hands dirty when required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to challenge the business.
  • Enthusiastic with a willingness to resolve issues and ensure technical accuracy.
  • Ability to take ownership of work and be accountable to the stakeholders.
  • Be able to effectively build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead the finance function with gravitas and credibility.
  • An effective communicator and strong organisational skills to influence stakeholders to achieve objectives.
  • Strong systems and IT skills with an ability to innovate, learn and implement new systems.
  • Ability to train, support and develop others.
  • Ability to travel (expected max 10% travel).


What you'll get in return
The Financial Controller will be offered a highly competitive salary in the region of £65,000 to £75,000 plus bonus and benefits.
The role is hybrid 50/50 remote and office with some travel abroad when able which is expected to be circa 10%
