Description

The Financial Controller will work closely with all business departments creating a real and active partnership with both operations and SMT. The role is to provide real time support and analysis, to be a trusted adviser and to add value that will assist in decision making. The job holder will require the ability to communicate their message, to understand their audience and deliver the information in a clear and user friendly manner.

This is a key role in the Finance team managing 3 staff and delivering strong and robust financial controls and processes across the organisation.

Financial Controller Job Duties:

  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Prepare comprehensive, timely and accurate Monthly Management Accounts
  • Prepare first draft year end Statutory accounts
  • Cash flow forecasting and Treasury Management
  • Supervise and manage financial department staff, motivate and lead finance team members through effective performance management
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with regulations and legislation
  • Manage the daily relationship with internal and external audit.
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
  • Responsible for setting, monitoring and measuring all KPI's of the function to manage service delivery. Make process improvements to enhance performance if required and ensure implemented and delivered with regular reviews;
  • Responsible for preparing annual budgets, financial forecasts and plans for long range planning for department and business to be reviewed by Finance Director, SMT and Board including scenario planning and mitigation action plan;
  • Manage relationships with third parties as necessary, such as HMRC, payroll providers etc.
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems,
  • Assist the Finance Director in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members
  • Responsibility for ensuring effective procedures are in place for all aspect of the finance function, and are reviewed and up to date;
  • Ad hoc duties as required by the Finance Director including attending meetings and taking minutes.

Profile

  • Qualified Accountant with ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA
  • strong Financial Accounting skills including control accounts and developing robust processes
  • Must have excellent Excel skills
  • It would be great if you have people management skills, but this is not essential as can be developed in this area
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Job Offer

Salary circa £44,000 - £48,000

Pension contributions up rto 10% from employer if you put in 5%

hybrid working - 2 days a week on site
