Interim Finance Business Partner for a local government organisation for a 6 month assignment

Your new company

You will be working for a local government organisation and be supporting their vision to provide the best services to the people of Birmingham. You will be working to ensure excellent financial management is given to particular areas of the directorate.

Your new role

You will be working as a Finance Business Partner, reporting to the Head of Finance. Your role will involve all areas of finance including a small amount of financial accounting , management accounting and then business partnering with key budget holders.

You will ideally have a strong management accounting background and be able to support and give advice to Budget Holders in managing and steering complex budgets, to maximise efficiency. You will be able to monitor the KPI's for the directorate. You will also identify key business forecasting information and long term planning, including project planning and support stakeholders with this.

At month end there will be some work relating to interpretation of statutory regulations, accounting frameworks and standards and financial procedures.

You will be promoting true strategic business partnering with the key sector leads.

What you'll need to succeed

Ideally you will be a qualified accountant or QBE. Knowledge and some understanding of the public services is also necessary. But local government experience is not an absolute need for the role, but could help.

You will have experience of supporting with finance business partnering, strong financial and management accounting experience.

Know how to build strong relationships with key stakeholders

Good analytical skills to interpret financial data

Management experience of a small finance team would be helpful
