Job Details

We have an ambitious vision for our London office and an exciting plan for achieving it – and we need your help. We need experienced and passionate individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset that can help us build the future ForrestBrown. You will work directly with the lead for our London office, an inspiring leader and industry heavyweight, and will help to build the office together – with the support of the wider ForrestBrown team.

This is a unique opportunity for experienced advisers who want to work in a fast-paced environment in the heart of the City where they can thrive and have a real impact. For those who want to break free of the traditional career structures of a professional services firm while still working with high-profile clients at the forefront of innovation, we could be the perfect choice.

We’re ForrestBrown, a firm of chartered tax advisers specialising in research and development (R&D) tax. Our team has substantial experience and technical expertise in this field which, combined with our passion for our clients and entrepreneurial spirit, helps us deliver outstanding results for a wide portfolio of innovative clients. Established in 2013, we have offices in Bristol, London and Scotland and are proud to be one of the largest specialist R&D tax teams in the UK. We’re now looking for an exceptional Senior Tax Manager to join us in our growing London base.

This is a high-profile role with great potential. An influential part of a market-leading team, you’ll act as a trusted adviser to a portfolio of our top clients and partners, using your technical expertise to understand their businesses and deliver trusted bespoke tax advice across technically demanding cases. You’ll build brilliant relationships that last and use these to develop new opportunities and grow our top line.

An ambitious, proactive self-starter, you’ll have the confidence to lead project teams and the communication skills to positively influence both internal and external stakeholders. Owning your relationships, you’ll develop the best possible solutions and consistently create opportunities to strengthen our services. This could involve preparing R&D tax relief claims for your clients, navigating HMRC queries on your clients’ behalf or implementing forward-thinking R&D strategies to maximise future tax relief claims.

Your role as Senior Tax Manager will give you a great platform from which you can develop a career to be proud of. You’ll work with senior leadership to shape our future revenue – innovatively developing and defining our services to help us offer true value to the businesses we work with – and act as a mentor to less experienced team members. Sharing your knowledge, giving actionable feedback and keeping up to date with industry trends, your expertise will help our team capitalise on opportunities and, together, you’ll actively drive change.

So, what does it take to succeed in this role? You’ll need to be CTA qualified with a broad technical understanding of corporate tax principles, or ACA qualified with direct tax experience, and ideally have at least 5 years’ post qualification experience. The proven ability to advise business-critical clients of all sizes and support technically challenging transactions is key, as is a commercial mindset.

Here at ForrestBrown our amazing culture is built on collaboration, learning, celebrating success and being together but we also recognise that our people appreciate flexibility and the opportunity to deliver in their role their way. We are currently trialling a hybrid working model, with the opportunity to work from home regularly which we hope will support the benefits of being together as well as provide a more flexible approach to work.  If you would like to talk about opportunities to work flexibly here at ForrestBrown why not get in touch with our Talent team to discuss?

We’re ForrestBrown, the UK’s leading research and development (R&D) tax consultancy. We build brilliant relationships with clients in exciting industries like aviation, technology, fashion and food. Our work helps clients use R&D tax relief strategically, uncovering the funds they need to move forward. That’s cash to put towards hiring new talent or creating something remarkable.

Our mission is to help innovative business make the most of R&D tax relief – but that doesn’t mean we fit the mould of the average tax firm.  We’re creative, driven and fiercely passionate about what we do. The first thing people notice about ForrestBrown is our culture.  We are proud to have created a culture around what we love, not what we think a tax firm should look like. We’re big believers in collaboration and know people work best when they’re supported and not siloed.  So while we have different skill sets, we all work together towards the same purpose: to deliver outstanding results for our clients. And we have fun along the way too.  Whether we are catching up over a beer at our in house bar or enjoying our weekly team lunches, it’s an environment we thrive in.

Our vibrant headquarters is based in Bristol, and you’ll also find us in London and Scotland too – so come and say hello.
