My client is seeking a qualified Principal Accountant who will be responsible for driving the organisations financial functions.

My client is a local government institution which operates across the UK. They are looking for a Principal Accountant to join their already established team. They are offering a salary of up to £49,000 and a hybrid working style.

Description

  • To assist the Treasurer and Finance Manager in providing a full and quality financial management service.
  • To undertake the preparation of the Authority's statutory final accounts and budgets & forecasts by the ensuring that they comply with the Code of Practice on Local Government Accounting.

  • To mentor and give direction to the Finance team in the carrying out of their duties.

  • To assist with the development and implementation of the Authority's financial systems.

  • To provide financial management advice and information as requested by budget holders, Treasurer and Finance Manager.

  • To attend meetings with Principal Officers, budget holders and others as required.

  • To be responsible for assessing the implications of new legislation and application of accounting guidelines and standards.

  • To use the relevant financial systems in accordance with financial regulations and maintaining the integrity of the accounts.

Profile

  • Qualified accountant in possession of a CCAB qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with at working at a senior level within local government.
  • Ability to communicate issues (both in writing and verbally) in an easy to understand format
  • The ability to interpret and translate information and to prepare reports from this information
