The PwC Large Corporate Tax Team is recruiting across the North West & Yorkshire. 


We are looking for market facing Senior Managers and Managers with experience in corporate tax to join us. If you are passionate about developing and building strong client relationships, helping them solve complex problems, then we’re interested in hearing from you.

You will work closely with both UK and Overseas Headquartered Corporate clients operating in the both Domestic and International Markets. Sitting in the core of our corporate tax business, you will have a clear opportunity to develop your technical skills, while also having a key responsibility for relationship building, working with our clients to understand their strategic objectives and ambitions. You will help them solve problems and remain compliant with ever changing tax legislation, introducing and working with specialist teams across our tax business and other lines of service, identifying opportunities and managing delivery to our clients. 


The role

You can  be based at either our Manchester or Leeds office, working across our Northern region with teams in different offices which provides  access to a wider range of large corporate clients. 


You would be required in the office at least twice a week however we work as an agile workforce including more freedom around working pattern, hybrid working (co-located with colleagues in the office, working from client sites, or working from home) and flexible summer working hours (a reduced working day on a Friday in June, July and August)  


You will work closely with our team of Partners, Directors and Senior Managers. You will draw on support from our subject matter technical specialists including international tax, renewables, deals, corporate compliance, transfer pricing, innovation, people & organisation, and many more.

You will be given the autonomy to deliver and shape tax services for large corporate clients, usually with international operations, managing all aspects of the client relationship, including the delivery of specialist projects and tax compliance services. Projects will be varied and wide ranging, from helping structure global expansion, to assisting on transactions, helping our clients secure innovation-based tax reliefs, and working with clients to manage their tax risks through the design and implementation of processes and controls. You will also manage the wider tax relationship with clients, linking them into the breadth of tax and non-tax service offerings that we can offer in support of their business activities.  Prior experience is essential. You will receive full support from our team of Partners and Directors, and from internal technical specialists based in the region and nationally. 


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Working with our Partners and Director team to develop and build strong client relationships, identifying opportunities to solve our clients problems and build our business; 

  • Managing a portfolio of clients, being the primary contact for day-to-day tax matters; 

  • Leading a team of our more junior staff, helping them to develop and gain experience across a wide range of clients;  

  • Contributing to the development and sharing of technical knowledge; 

  • Being inquisitive, understanding the changing business environment, and considering how this impacts our clients;

  • Working with our compliance team to oversee the delivery of tax compliance services;

  • Developing internal relationships with our subject matter and line of services specialists;

  • Managing our risk processes, investment in clients and related financial metrics.

Essential skills and experience

  • Practice-trained finance professional, with relevant qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA/CTA).

  • Experience of advising large corporate clients on UK and international  tax matters.

  • Proven client relationship skills and effectively managing internal teams.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and sustaining relationships over a period of time.

  • Demonstrated business acumen through an interest in and understanding of broader UK and global business issues, and being confident discussing these issues with clients. 

  • Analytical skills and an ability to solve complex problems in a collaborative and creative way.

  • Evidence of an ability to develop the breadth of services offered on client accounts ,and contribution to business development activity. 

  • Sound accounting knowledge, including familiarity with accounting principles and ability to understand and interpret statutory accounts.

  • Ability to write clear articulate reports, summarising complex tax matters.

  • Ability to manage your own time and to manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders.

  • Commitment to developing self, proactive mindset and desire to make the role your own.
