We hold a unique position as a regulator across the whole of the private, public and third sectors.

About the role

The ICO is expanding its financial analysis capabilities and seeking a Principal Regulatory Financial Analyst to join our team.

As the use of data becomes ever more prevalent and important in our lives it is essential for the ICO’s actions to be supported by robust financial insights and analysis. Whether the issue is understanding the commercial issues facing our stakeholders, advising on the potential impact of financial penalties or simply gaining a better understanding of the markets we regulate and their business models, financial analysis can help us to understand these issues.

Reporting to the Head of Economic Analysis – Impact and Evaluation you will proactively communicate, influence and consult to ensure financial impact analysis is central to the ICO’s regulatory decision making.

Financial Analysts enjoy substantial autonomy, often working directly with more senior colleagues. They are recognised subject matter experts and will regularly provide their advice and expertise in briefings, give internal advice to other departments, work as part of multidisciplinary project teams, assist with training, undertake research projects and engage with stakeholders in the UK and overseas ensuring that strong relationships are built and maintained.

Part time applicants are welcome to apply and will be considered. Please state the working pattern you require when submitting your application.

About you

To succeed in this role you will need professional experience in business, financial or accounting analysis in a strategic, policy or commercial role. This experience could have been gained by working in another regulator, competition authority, government, or consultancy.

The post holder must have relevant financial, accounting, or predominantly quantitative business qualifications.
