Job Details

As the leading training provider to the building services engineering sector, JTL is helping to create a new breed of plumbers and electricians. Skilled men and women of all ages, all backgrounds and practically every community and race. Our objective is simple: to help them become the very best at what they do – and we are now looking for an experienced professional to maintain the financial framework that supports our performance and growth.

The challenges are substantial. As our Financial Controller, you will provide effective guidance and support to our Directors on all financial and strategic matters. At the operational level, this will involve managing a finance department, motivating a team and implementing robust financial controls and audit procedures. We will rely on you to manage the operating P&L account, for example, and to prepare annual returns. But you will also influence strategic decision-making by analysing data and translating it into actionable business information. In addition, you will help develop annual business plans and contribute to the development of our 3-year strategic plan.

With a minimum of an HND or equivalent – and ideally holding a recognised UK accountancy qualification – you will combine proven management skills with previous responsibility for statutory and/or management accounts. An understanding of the law relating to charities and companies is desirable, and some knowledge of government funding and work-based learning would be useful. First-class communication and organisational skills are, of course, essential.  Add to that a driving licence and use of a car, and you will quickly establish yourself as a vital member of our team.

In addition to the salary, there is an excellent benefits package that includes ongoing career development, an occupational pension scheme, 25 days annual leave and Private Healthcare.

We welcome applicants from all sections of the community. JTL is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all its employees to share this commitment in conjunction with the requirements of the Prevent Duty and the positive promotion of modern British values.

A DBS disclosure will be required.
