Job Details

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will be responsible for all aspects of monthly and yearly internal & external financial reporting, transactional finance, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as ownership of internal control policies and procedures. Hands on management of tasks and staff will be essential for this role. You will also be required to report to Board level and interact with the business on a regular basis.

Michael Page are working in partnership with a Private Equity backed SME with a 20% growth year on year. They have an acquisitive nature and are looking for a Financial Controller to assist the Finance Director with the overall management of the finance department.

Description

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller is required to develop and maintain the core financial control framework across the Division. Driving Finance into the business, the role will be responsible for:

  • Cashflow responsibility for the unit, ensuring that short term management of cash is prioritised with Group
  • Senior leader within the overall Group
  • Timely, accurate management information, running the month end process including relevant Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Documented processes and controls for the profit and loss accounts and applicable balance sheets across all divisional operations, inputting into the Chart of Accounts & product coding process where necessary
  • Full departmental reporting of overheads, including review with Executive Directors and the Group Finance Director
  • Revenue, Tail and National Network Cost of Sales and Gross Profit analysis and reconciliations across the operations ensuring that revenue recognition is in line with group policies
  • Revenue and overhead forecasting & reporting using Group format and standards
  • VAT returns for all entities

Profile

Key requirements:

  • High commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • The ability to explain complex financial information to finance and non-finance personnel
  • Passionate about using technology to drive efficiencies in finance teams
  • Strong people management skills to ensure a productive, efficient, happy team environment
  • Ability to identify, investigate and correct anomalies to facilitate better information provision
  • Rounded knowledge of all areas of the finance function and the interdependencies required
  • A good knowledge of financial control frameworks and an ability to assess processes for compliance
  • Ability to deputise for Finance Director in their absence.
  • Willingness to contribute, when appropriate, in strategic discussions
  • Good knowledge of up to date legislation and accounting regulations
  • Organisational and team managerial skills to run and drive month and year end
  • Strong work ethic - comfortable working to tight deadlines and working under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to persuade and influence at all levels
  • Organised with an ability to present detailed/complex information in an exec format
  • Self-starter
