Financial Planning Analysis Manager Abingdon (Hybrid) £60,000 - £70,000 annual salary DOE

Your new company

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading company in tumour re-programming, delivering medicines to patients with cancer. The main purpose of this role is to provide detailed financial analysis to facilitate performance assessment and forecasting and to enable the Executive Team and FD to make informed business planning decisions.

Your new role

As the successful candidate, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the planning cycle covering P&L, balance sheet & cash flow and scenario planning and analysis.
  • Take the lead in process improvement activity around the production of 5 Year Plans, Annual Budgets, Quarterly / Full Year Forecasts.
  • Accountability for key financial performance reporting which will provide review, challenge and interpretation of material variances against historical, budget, forecast and prior year to ensure that the business has an understanding of the value drivers and the relevant business units' financial position.
  • Provide commercial finance support to projects and other business initiatives, by defining and creating appropriate data sets and analysis.
  • Maintain and develop various financial models and standard templates distributed for use by all of the Finance Team during the planning processes, ensuring quality, accuracy and focused analytical review.
  • Provide insightful analysis and review of business performance to senior stakeholders, including study cost management and departmental spend.
  • Financial analysis to support with strategic development and key business decisions.
  • Working closely with the VP Strategy and Operations and Project Director in delivering presentational outputs for discussion with the FD, Executive Team and Board.
  • Statutory reporting


What you'll need to succeed

To be the successful candidate, you will need:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting, controlling and finance operations
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP accounting and reporting
  • Previous FP&A experience preferred
  • Highly IT literate with excellent Excel skills; previous experience of working with complex bespoke databases would be advantageous
  • Ability to be flexible to deliver under time pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to handle discussions with external auditors
  • Mature and professional approach with a high level of discretion
  • Independent worker and analytical thinker with ability to conduct commercial data analysis and resolve complex problems to drive business outcomes
  • Strong presentation skills.
