Your new company
I'm delighted to be working with a leading financial services organisation based in Sheffield with strong links both the private and public sector. As an organisation, they are tasked with making finance markets work better so smaller businesses across the UK can prosper and grow.

With strong, continued growth and excellent career prospects, the organisation not only boast an outstanding benefits package but the opportunity to be involved in exciting projects and further enhance experience and career growth.

A selection of the outstanding benefits on offer with the organisation are:

  • 38 days annual leave (inclusive of Bank Holidays)
  • 15% pension
  • Strong hybrid working policy
  • Outstanding career development prospects
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Paid voluntary day, maternity, adoption, and shared parental leave

Your new role
The organisation are pleased to be able to offer 3x exciting new roles to the market which are not your 'typical' type of finance/accounting role.

You'll be working within a newly created national & regional Funding Team sitting within the organisations' Venture Solutions arm. The team are responsible for establishing new Funds across the UK including the Northern Powerhouse, Midlands Engine, the South West of England as well as in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Team is contributing directly to the UK Government's 'levelling up' agenda and the key objective of the organisation is addressing regional disparities in accessing finance and will contribute to the Government's agenda of building back the economy as we come out of the COVID crisis.

Your role is responsible for supporting the Senior Investment Managers and overall team to develop, launch and thereafter manage several debt and equity funds across the UK.

The key aspects of the role will involve:

  • Supporting the team during the current project phase to set up systems and processes, design the fund structures and engage with external stakeholders to successfully deliver £1.6bn of funding across the UK.
  • Assisting in the selection of fund managers through the assessment and evaluation of proposals and subsequent contracting and onboarding process.
  • Participating in the management of funds post launch via attendance at fund manager reviews meetings, preparing reports and undertaking initial analysis of data to measure performance against KPIs .
  • Supporting colleagues in the active management of matters arising with fund performance, including conflicts, exceptional circumstances and Limited Partnership Agreement commitments.
  • Working on the range of fund management and equity investment activities in support of organisation objectives.
  • Assisting in the marketing and promotion of the UK&R programme, e.g. by supporting the production of publicity materials and attending promotional events.

For the first c.12 months, you will be setting up systems, processes and controls, project managing the process and partnering with key stakeholders across the organisation such as Legal, Risk, Operational Finance, Marketing etc before moving to stage 2 of the process and working in a typical fund management type position, partnering with small businesses and using data analytics to understand and interpret data and financial information to manage the funds.

What you'll need to succeed
The roles will be very well aligned to individuals with a financial business partnering background or typical fund management. The roles are exciting, challenging and diverse, well aligned to candidates who enjoy and thrive on relationship building, analysis of data and partnering with key stakeholders and decision makers.

You'll be using Power BI and Excel significantly as part of the role, so competency with Excel is key and any exposure to data visualisation software would be beneficial but not essential.

The role does not require a background in qualified accountancy or financial services/fund management however this would be beneficial. The key skillset for this role is a business partnering ability and an a comfortability with data analysis, manipulation and delivery, alongside excellent communication skills.

What you'll get in return

The organisation operate a c.50-60% hybrid working policy with excellent benefits including:

  • 38 days annual leave (inclusive of Bank Holidays)
  • 15% pension
  • Strong hybrid working policy
  • Outstanding career development prospects
