The Assistant Financial Controller role is heavily integrated into group and means that there are vast opportunities to progress within the wider business. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Senior Management Accountant who is looking to take the next step up in their career.

The Assistant Financial Controller will work closely with the Finance Director and Finance Business Partner and oversee the reporting, and reconciliation of all financial balance sheet accounts.

Description

As Assistant Financial Controller, your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and report the site weekly/monthly accounts to the defined deadlines as directed by Group. Ensure accurate records are kept and communicated to group in the required format, ensuring balance sheet accounts are correctly reconciled and documented.
  • Responsible for reconciling the full balance sheet and providing full detailed analysis to ensure control and eliminate risks.
  • Provide support to the site Finance Business Partner, ensuring functional targets are achieved and also ensuring that changing business requirements are met. Supporting Finance Business Partner & Commercial / Management Accountant in identifying and driving continuous improvements around processes and controls
  • To enhance management understanding of financial information through provision of information and education, promoting a cost awareness culture. Provide a monthly site finance pack for review with site and group management team.
  • Review overhead spend with Managers on a regular basis with a view to controlling costs and facilitating better forecasts and budgets, driving ownership and accountability
  • Responsible for putting together the site balance sheet for budgets and quarterly forecasting. Reporting against budget /forecasts.
  • To provide cover / review the Weekly & Monthly P&L actuals and forecasts.
  • Review of working capital
  • To continuously develop/implement relevant business measures to meet the needs of the site.
  • Review capital actual spend and support forecasting
  • Cash Flow modelling - Understanding and driving working capital improvements.
  • Support the tax team with submission of tax packs and VAT

Profile

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced application knowledge of MS Office suite in particular Excel.
  • Experienced working with high volumes and tight deadlines while prioritising workloads
  • Key attention to detail and personal/professional accountability
