The Opportunity

PwC completes on average around 150 reasonable assurance CASS audits and 290 limited assurance CASS audits each year. We have a dedicated National CASS practice which delivers the highest risk audits in our portfolio and, as a Senior Associate in this practice,  your primary role will be working as part of a team to deliver these high quality CASS audits across our diverse client base. 

You will be part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues for our clients. This will primarily be through delivery of high quality CASS audits, but may also include other assurance and advisory services, supporting clients from strategy through to execution. Across all areas of your work you will be encouraged to identify and utilise technology driven solutions to continuously evolve the way we work 

PwC’s national CASS team is split into two practices, our Asset and Wealth Management practice (AWM) as well as our Banking and Capital Markets practice (B&CM). This role will be based within our AWM practice.

PwC's Asset and Wealth Management practice is the market leading AWM audit business. Our business is a national practice comprising over 600 staff with a presence in 12 offices across the UK, and comprises both financial audit and non-audit assurance businesses. Working in AWM will provide opportunities to gain experience working across a variety of clients and industry sectors including, Wealth Managers, Platforms, Fund Managers, Private Equity and other traditional Asset and Wealth management companies. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering CASS audits over a diverse range of our clients 

  • Conducting fieldwork in accordance with PwC’s CASS audit methodology and quality assurance standards including testing the design and operating effectiveness of controls to mitigate CASS risks, performing substantive testing to test a firm’s compliance with the CASS rules

  • Reviewing and assessing a firm’s CASS breaches register for collation and reporting to the FCA

  • Delegating to others to provide stretch opportunities as well as providing coaching and support to help deliver results

  • Reviewing your work and that of others for quality, accuracy and relevance

  • Communicating findings to clients and preparing written reports

  • Using a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current trends in the business area

  • Developing new ideas and proposing innovative solutions to problems

  • Ability to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality, diverse relationships

  • Upholding the firm's code of ethics and business conduct

  • Using feedback and reflection to develop self awareness, personal strengths and address development areas

Skills and Experience required:

  • CA / ACA / ACCA/ICAS qualified (or international equivalent) and audit experience is highly desirable

  • Experience of CASS audits or Risk & Control audits would be highly desirable

  • The ability to learn quickly and be receptive of feedback and coaching

  • Strong project management skills and experience in coaching junior staff

  • The ability to work effectively in a team, building good working relationships with both colleagues and client personnel at all levels

  • Passion for delivering and promoting quality in all aspects of your work and applying professional scepticism

  • Experience of working to internal and client deadlines
