Senior Tax Manager

You will work directly with inspiring leaders and industry heavyweights across our Bristol HQ and London office to help to build the office together – with the support of the wider ForrestBrown team.

We’re ForrestBrown, a firm of chartered tax advisers specialising in research and development (R&D) tax. Our team has substantial experience and technical expertise in this field which, combined with our passion for our clients and entrepreneurial spirit, helps us deliver outstanding results for a wide portfolio of innovative clients. Established in 2013, we have offices in Bristol, London and Scotland and are proud to be one of the largest specialist R&D tax teams in the UK. We’re now looking for an exceptional Senior Tax Manager to join us to grow a Midlands based office.

This is a high-profile role with great potential. An influential part of a market-leading team, you’ll act as a trusted adviser to a portfolio of our top clients and partners, using your technical expertise to understand their businesses and deliver trusted bespoke tax advice across technically demanding cases. You’ll build brilliant relationships that last and use these to develop new opportunities and grow our top line.

An ambitious, proactive self-starter, you’ll have the confidence to lead project teams and the communication skills to positively influence both internal and external stakeholders. Owning your relationships, you’ll develop the best possible solutions and consistently create opportunities to strengthen our services. This could involve preparing R&D tax relief claims for your clients, navigating HMRC queries on your clients’ behalf or implementing forward-thinking R&D strategies to maximise future tax relief claims.

Your role as Senior Tax Manager will give you a great platform from which you can develop a career to be proud of. You’ll work with senior leadership to shape our future revenue – innovatively developing and defining our services to help us offer true value to the businesses we work with – and act as a mentor to less experienced team members. Sharing your knowledge, giving actionable feedback and keeping up to date with industry trends, your expertise will help our team capitalise on opportunities and, together, you’ll actively drive change.

So, what does it take to succeed in this role? You’ll need to be CTA qualified with a broad technical understanding of corporate tax principles, or ACA qualified with direct tax experience, and ideally have at least 5 years’ post qualification experience. The proven ability to advise business-critical clients of all sizes and support technically challenging transactions is key, as is a commercial mindset.
