Learning Development Manager

The team;

The Learning Design and Digital Production team are a group of learning specialists within Global Assurance Quality - Learning & Education (GAQ - L&E). As a global team, we create Audit training materials across a range of modalities including, virtual and face to face classroom, eLearns, learning games, videos and microlearning. We then make these materials available to territory Learning & Development (L&D) teams to implement locally.

About you;

We are looking for an experienced Learning Development Manager to join the GAQ-L&E team. The role is based in London, reporting to the GAQ-L&E Learning Design and Technology Lead. 

The successful candidate will have experience of managing the development of learning solutions - from initial kick-off, through to release to territory L&D teams. This will include a combination of traditional project management responsibilities, as well as advising on learning development best practice, coaching Subject Matter Champions on producing required deliverables, performing review of deliverables s and identifying the need to consult with other learning professionals on the team. 

Role Requirements; 

  • Work with Subject Matter Champions and developers to prepare training materials including, setting-up templates, drafting non-technical content, creating simple visuals such as classroom slides, eLearn images and mock-ups of ideas for designers etc 

  • Brief Subject Matter Champions and developers on required tasks, perform review of their outputs to ensure they align with best practice design principles and adult learning theory, and provide coaching as needed

  • Ensure appropriate involvement of other learning specialists on the team at the right time in the right way

  • Advise on learning design and development process best practice

  • Project manage projects from inception to release, including:

    • Initiating, organising and facilitating key project meetings

    • Developing project plans and defining budgets and monitoring and reporting progress against these 

    • Identifying risks and proactively communicating these to senior team members, proposing mitigating actions where possible

    • Scheduling, and managing internal resources and external vendors, throughout the lifecycle of the project

    • Providing communications to the Global Assurance L&E network including module release

    • Managing the quality assurance process including obtaining appropriate sign-off of training materials, completing project checklists and performing required wrap-up procedures

  • Prioritising work, in conjunction with other relevant parties, to meet agreed requirements in a cost effective manner.

  • Communicating regularly with Learning Design and Digital Production Lead to provide oversight on assigned projects, coaching needs and opportunities for process improvement etc

  • Making regular contributions to the teams best practice and process guidance



 

Skills and experience

  • A growth mindset - ability to adapt and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth

  • A strong understanding of the end to end design and development process

  • An understanding of, and a passion for, Adult Learning

  • An understanding of industry standard development tools (e.g. Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise, Review etc), Vyond, Gomo or similar tools)

  • Customer focussed at all times – understanding their needs and keeping them in mind when taking actions or making decisions

  • The ability to build and strengthen long-term relationships

  • Goal orientated – maintaining focus on agreed objectives and deliverables

  • Analytical thinking skills – effective identification of issues and the application of sound conclusions resulting in the right solution, at the right time, at the right cost

  • Proactive follow-up and monitoring – checking progress against targets, reporting as necessary and taking action to resolve exceptions

  • Be a team player, with the ability to help the team out with whatever is required

  • Strong communication skills, including using active listening skills to understand others ideas, confidently providing their viewpoints and perspective, and using effective questioning techniques to navigate ambiguity
