This Big 4 accountancy firm is looking for a Manager to work in a 12 month fixed term contract in their Firm Independence Team. The successful person will help the firm to pursue new client and strategic opportunities whilst managing risk and protecting the firm's reputation and brand.

Client Details

This Big 4 accountancy firm's Firm Independence team is responsible for providing critical business support in relation to all matters pertaining to audit independence and regulatory requirements.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with client service teams across the firm. The team has regular exposure to the most senior levels of the firm's management, including high visibility among the senior partners of the business.

The role will also involve providing technical independence advice and guidance to the business including analysing and interpreting the firm's independence policies against specific client engagement team queries. The role offers many opportunities to work collaboratively with the business and/or global network on audit tenders, new service offerings and products, innovation projects and firm acquisitions, whilst broadening your understanding of auditor independence requirements.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting regulation, independence policies, professional guidance and other pronouncements and applying them to the business environment.
  • Providing advice and guidance to partners and client service engagement teams in technical consultations in relation to the provision of services and business relationships across all areas of the business.
  • Working with the Independence Team Leaders; the Director of Independence and the Ethics Partner, to address strategic independence issues.
  • Advising the business on the regulatory impact when developing new products and services.
  • Working with the firm's Corporate Development team and business on firm transactions, ensuring Independence is managed and maintained throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Support the firm's Ethics Partner with technical consultations relating to fee arrangements.
  • Working with audit bid teams, assisting them in their analysis of non-audit services and business relationships under the relevant independence rules and regulations.
  • Developing technical material, including policy and guidance, for firm-wide distribution.
  • Educating and raising awareness of existing and new independence requirements to partners and professional staff.
  • Managing own portfolio of consultations with key stakeholders within the business.
  • Coaching and developing junior team members.
  • Ongoing and ad-hoc independence matters and projects.
  • Managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.

Profile

Successful applicants will be/have:

  • A compliance, risk, audit or Independence background
  • Previous experience in a large accountancy firm is preferred
  • Previous knowledge of independence regulations would be beneficial
  • Understanding of regulation and how to interpret and apply rules in a practical way
  • Ability to manage senior Partner relationships and other stakeholders across the firm
  • Ability to deliver complex projects under time pressure
  • Strong project management, analytical, consultative, decision making and organisational skills
