You will play a key part in the production of monthly management accounts and published financial statements and your day to day will include the preparation and review of various journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations. You will also have the opportunity to be part of and shape the transformation agenda and help to drive a continuous improvement environment in processes to become more efficient and effective.

Description

This is an exciting time to join our client as they are working on a significant programme of change and transformation including an upgrade of the General Ledger and ERP System.

You will play a key part in the production of the monthly management accounts and published financial statements and your day to day will include the preparation and review of various journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations. In addition, you will prepare analysis of the statutory positions for the Group and its subsidiaries whilst providing oversight of the balance sheet positions ensuring compliance with IFRS accounting standards and accounting policies which could include:

  • Effective Interest Rate accounting under IFRS 9
  • Expected Credit Losses under IFRS 9
  • Fixed assets including IFRS 16 leases
  • Group consolidation
  • Securitisation vehicles
  • Statutory accounts disclosures

You will collaborate with stakeholders outside of the business including our external auditors and be a key point of contact for other areas of finance that input into the month end process (Financial Planning, Treasury etc.). You will liaise with these teams to ensure the month end and statutory position are reported accurately.

Profile

Our client is looking for an ambitious individual with a go-getting attitude who can confidently express opinions and provide advice to colleagues and senior stakeholders. You'll need to be resilient to change; be able to adapt as the business continues to transform through its change programme and have a natural curiosity to investigate and question results empowering you to make a difference and add value.

You'll being able to handle complex technical financial accounting issues and communicate them in a simple way. You'll have strong IT skills, including excel, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You will be or have:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Finance degree or other relevant qualifications (advantageous).
  • Experience within Financial Operations / Reporting / Control or within Accountancy Practice (advantageous).
  • Strong experience of IFRS accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with excellent written & verbal communications skills.
